Assistants have been the corner-stone for how AI works in Turn.io. However, one decision that we outgrew was that models were coupled with assistants. This created strange constraints where you were either forced to use the same model for all tasks, or have to manage multiple assistants.

From today onwards, models can now be selected independently from assistants. This way, you can still benefit from easily sharing context across AI features; but select the right model for the right task.

For example, on AI cards in Journeys, you can now select a model directly:

On this screenshot, you can also see that you can have no assistant selected. This way, only the instructions in this card are passed to the LLM — giving you more granular control.

Assistants still have a model — which we've renamed to "Default model". When you select an assistant that has a different model than your selection, we let you easily set the model to stay the same as the assistant:

There is no action needed, all your AI cards have defaulted to using the same model as the assistant — ensuring everything works exactly the same as before.

But you can now select the right model for the right task.
