We've just released a change that we think will improve your Journey creation!

Before, Turn forced you to start scheduled Journeys with a template, as that's required to initiate a conversation with a user outside the 24-hour window.

However, scheduled journeys often start with things other than a message: some logic to determine how the Journey should flow, pinging an API to enrich the first message template, updating some profile fields, etc. Also, sometimes you deliberately schedule journeys inside the 24-hour conversation window, and don't need a template for that.

Moving forward, when you set a time-based trigger, you can remove the template placeholder from your Journey and start it any way you'd like.

Just remember that, if you do want to message users outside the 24-hour conversation window, the first message always needs to be a template.
