Understanding Reminders' statuses and stats

Neelke Stadler Updated by Neelke Stadler

The Reminders page provides progress feedback and message status stats.

When you navigate to the Reminders page you will see all your historic sends. The list view provides the status, name, progress %, read %, number of contacts and date of all reminders.

What are the possible statuses of a Reminder?

Status

Description

Scheduled

The reminder will be send at the specified date and time in the future.

In Progress

The reminder is currently being send to people.

Completed

The send has been executed. Click on the reminder to see more details on the success of the send.

Cancelled

You cancelled the reminder. If it already started sending you will see progress updates.

Progress updates

Once you click on a Reminder in the list view you get more details in the right panel.

Large sends will take time to complete. The section just below the reminder name shows you how the send is progressing.

Let's explain:

  • # Contacts: The number of contacts that matched your search criteria at the time that the send started.
  • Processed: The number of contacts for which we have given the message to WhatsApp, it's now WhatsApp's responsibility to deliver the message.
  • Errored: The number of contacts for which we got an error when trying to give the message to WhatsApp. Most common cause is the contact not being on WhatsApp.

Your send is complete when Processed plus Errored equal # Contacts.

Message status stats

Below the progress updates, you get feedback on message statuses. Now that your reminder has gone out to people, what is happening?

Let's explain:

  • Sent: Number of contacts for which we know messages were successfully sent to the user. This number includes delivered and read messages.
  • Delivered: Number of contacts for which we know messages were successfully delivered to the user. This number includes read messages.
  • Read: Number of contacts for which we know messages were successfully read by the user. A caveat here is that read receipts may be turned off by the users, resulting in this status not updating.
  • Failed: Number of contacts for which WhatsApp failed to deliver messages to the user's phone. Most common case is WhatsApp banning your number business-initiated conversations temporarily due to spam reports.
  • No status: Number of contacts for which we gave the message to WhatsApp with no errors, but WhatsApp hasn't sent us a message status yet.

Sent, Delivered, Read rates

To track the success of a sent we provide three stats. Let's explain them:

Sent rate
This tells you the percentage of contacts that your message was send to given the total number of contacts you selected.

Calculation: Sent / # Contacts * 100
Delivered rate
This tell you the percentage of contacts that the message successfully delivered to, given the message was sent.

Calculation: Delivered / Sent * 100
Read rate
This tells you the percentage of contacts that read your message, given the message was delivered. It is worth noting that in reality a higher % of people may have read the message. If users switch off their read receipts we will not get a read status even though they have read it.

Calculation: Read / Delivered * 100
