9 Oct 2024: WhatsApp shortcuts

Neelke Stadler Updated by Neelke Stadler

Building chat journeys are fun! Especially when you have tools to test and iterate on changes. We are introducing two WhatsApp shortcuts to use.

Recently we introduced a draft / publish model to Journeys — allowing you to test and perfect changes to your journeys before making them public to your users.

To test your user experience changes directly in WhatsApp (as opposed to in the Preview simulator only) we are introducing two shortcuts for you to use.

Preview your changes with!preview on and !preview off

To test unpublished changes directly on WhatsApp, you can type !preview on in WhatsApp. This will let you interact with your unpublished changes. Only when you are happy with the updates you can make these changes live for all your users.

Similarly, typing !preview off will get you back to interacting with the public version of your chat service.

Stop any active journey with !reset

At times you make mistakes. These mistake could result in an infinte loop or perhaps you've set an exceptionally long timeout.

The second WhatsApp shortcut we are introducing, allows you to clear the journey lease and any linked session. You now have a way to escape when you are accidentally stuck in a session!

If you do not have an active session, we will provide that feedback too.

Have fun building and improving your chat service!
