Turn.io and Paddle: how does it work?

Neelke Stadler Updated by Neelke Stadler

When you set up a subscription or purchase message credits, the transaction is handled by Paddle, our merchant of record. This article explains what that means for you.

What is a merchant of record?

A merchant of record (MoR) is the company that legally sells a product to the buyer. Paddle resells Turn.io under a licence from us, so Paddle is the seller in your transaction. Paddle issues the invoice or receipt, collects your payment, and provides support for questions about the order.

Turn.io remains the provider of the software. We build the platform and support how you use it. It’s similar to buying a computer from a retailer: the retailer handles the purchase, and the manufacturer handles questions about the product.

What you will notice

  • Invoices and receipts come from Paddle. The seller on the invoice is a Paddle company, not Turn.io.
  • Payments go to Paddle. If you pay by bank transfer, use the bank details printed on your invoice and quote the invoice reference.
  • The Paddle entity depends on where the buyer is. Paddle.com Inc invoices buyers in the US, Paddle Payments Limited invoices buyers in the UK, and Paddle.com Market Ltd invoices the rest of the world.
  • Terms. You accept Paddle’s buyer terms for your purchase, in addition to your agreement with Turn.io.

Purchase orders and vendor registration

If your organisation needs to register Paddle as a vendor, Paddle publishes procurement information and a vendor information form at https://www.paddle.com/about/procurement. If you require proof of bank details, reach out to us on support@turn.io so we can request it on your behalf from procurement@paddle.com.
