19 Oct 2026: Read receipts and typing indicators

Ricardo Updated by Ricardo

When you message someone on WhatsApp, you can usually tell what's going on at their end. The ticks go blue, then "typing…" shows up, and you know a reply is coming. When people wrote to a support line on Turn, they didn't get any of that. They sent a message and saw nothing back until the answer landed. If the operator was taking a minute to look something up, it just felt like nobody was there.

We've fixed both. When an operator opens and reads a message in the inbox, the person on WhatsApp sees the blue double tick. When the operator starts typing a reply, they see the typing bubble.

Neither one changes how your team works. Operators read and reply the same way they always have. The difference is that the person waiting on the other end can tell someone's actually looking at their message. That matters a lot when they've just sent something they were nervous to ask.
