Neelke Stadler Updated by Neelke Stadler

To get access to the WhatsApp Business Platform, and build your chat service with Turn's powerful features, you need to complete a few steps.

When you sign up to Turn, you need to:

  • Complete basic organisational details to create an account.
  • Accept the Terms of Service. Make sure you read it and familiarise yourself with all policies.
The Terms of Service and all addendums are always available on our website.
  • Invite team members to join your organisational account on Turn. They will get an email with login details.

If you are not yet ready to launch your chat service you can try out Turn using a shared number. The sandbox experience is limited to 3 months.

Once you are ready there are 4 steps to complete:

  1. Get the number you want for your service
  2. Register on the WhatsApp Business Platform
  3. Get business verification from Meta
  4. Choose your Turn.io plan

Watch this video to know what to expect so you can seamlessly signup!

Below we share the process step-by-step.

1. Get the number you want for your service

You cannot change the number later. If you are not sure what number you need, our article on What number do I need for my service? to understand the available options.

3. Register on the WhatsApp Business Platform

This part of the process is with Meta, because they own WhatsApp. You will see a modal pop up (or a new tab opening in your browser) where you need to complete the business information they require.

If you get any errors from Meta, use this troubleshooting guide to find answers.

You need to do 3 things to get access to the WhatsApp Business Platform:

  1. Create Meta and WhatsApp Business Accounts (WABA).
Use our WABA checklist to know what to expect and get ready!
  1. Create a WhatsApp Business profile. This includes the display name for your WhatsApp service.
  1. Verify your WhatsApp Business number.
  • This is the number we provided. You will see it inside the Turn application AND have it in your email.
  • IMPORTANT! Select VOICE CALL. Once you inserted the number you need to select the verification method. Make sure you select voice call.
  • It will take a while for the audio file to arrive. (Don't get worried, just wait patiently🙂!) Press the play button. The verification code will be read repeatedly. Fill in the verification code.

Once you click OK, the pop-up modal (or browser tab) will close. But there is one more step to complete with Meta.

4. Get business verification from Meta

Once the first 3 steps with Meta are done, you will get an email with instructions on doing business verification.

In the email, click the blue "Request Verification" button. You will be directed to the Security Center section in Meta Business Suite, where you will see the "Start Verification" button.

Read why business verification is needed and use our checklist to make sure you do it correctly. Get help if you are struggling to get verified or if you uploaded the wrong documentation.
You have 30 days to do complete business verification. You service will not be live until this is done. What if 30 days expired?

You be notified of the status of your WABA, your display name and business verification. You will be able to see these in your Meta Business Suite account and we will show it to you in Turn on the progress bar.

4. Choose your Turn.io plan

Lastly, we need your payment details to finalise your account setup. The first month is free!

  • Your number will not be live until payment is setup. You can choose which Turn plan suits you best. You will have a choice between annual (save 20%!) or monthly billing.
  • Note: We use Paddle.com as our merchant of record. Once your details are added you will be able to see your history of invoices and update your billing email. Go to Settings > Subscription.
  • If you are an Enterprise customer we will setup custom billing for your account.

That's it! Well done🙌. Now you are ready to build your service.
