Message billing

Raquel Updated by Raquel

You can easily manage your organisation's Message Billing from the user interface.

Let's take a look at what you'll find on the Message Billing page.

Where to find the Message billing page?

In the bottom left corner click on your avatar, and select Message billing in the dropdown menu.

What will you see on this page?

At the top you find an overview of the amount of Messages and USD your organisation has available to spend.

You can also view your message spending for the current and previous months. Note the two drop-downs on the right-hand side. You can choose between the Messages count or the USD amount view, and you can also see your spend for the current or the previous month.

What can you do on the page?

  • Top up your available amount as needed through self-service.
Last paid top up
This tells you the last amount you requested and paid, and on what date.
It helps you understand how much you need and how long it lasts for your service.
Unpaid top up requests
Some times you might think that you should have more funds available than indicated in the available amount. One problem could be that you requested a top up but never paid the invoice. We help you understand if this is the case.

To find an invoice that you haven't yet paid, please refer to your email inbox.

A few things to note

  • Message billing is tracked by WhatsApp per WABA. A WABA is the same thing as a Turn organisation. You will therefore manage and view this per organisation. If you have more than one number, the Amount Available and Total Spend will reflect the overall balance for your organisation. You can see a breakdown of the spend per number:
  • Per-message pricing are pre-paid. This means that if you have spend all your free and waived messages you need to buy USD so that users can continue to interact with your service. You can check the WhatsApp rate section to learn more about the pricing structure. There is no additional cost from us on top of what WhatsApp charges you.
  • Messages can only be purchased in USD on Turn.io. WhatsApp charges you per template message delivered ("type":"template"). And rates vary based on the template's category and the recipient WhatsApp phone number's country calling code.
  • Once your free and/or waived messages or your USD amount is depleted, your service will not be able to send or receive messages. You'll need to top up using the self-service process. You'll see a red banner on your screen notifying you if your balance is below $5.
