Control Access with Roles and Permissions

You can control access for team members based on the role you assign them.

As your business grows, you need better control, more security, and smoother workflows. To help you stay organised as a team and make sure that the right people have access to the right information, you can set the role for each team member in your organisation. By assigning roles you reduce the chances of mistakes and improves how your team works together.

Let's look at what roles are available, how to add new members and how to change roles.

There are three user roles on Turn.io, each with specific permissions to help your team avoid accidents like deleting important data. It is important to ensure only the right people can make important changes.

Let's look at the each role's permissions, and how they differ.

Role

Permissions

Admin

Everything. Unrestricted access and control over all aspects of an organisation.

Builder

Can access and edit most things, but can’t make organisation-wide changes.

Task like importing people, sending reminders (large outbound campaigns) and managing billing require Admin permissions. Builders should focus on creating chat journeys.

Operator

Only has access to the the Inbox. This role focus on helping people via chat.

Adding a member and assigning a role

Navigate to the Members page by clicking your avatar in the bottom left, then click View members. You are now on the Members page. Admins user can add a new team member by clicking the "Add member" button. You will be prompted to add their email and need to assign them a role.

Changing roles

Navigate to the Members page by clicking your avatar in the bottom left, then click View members. You are now on the Members page. Everyone with access to your organisation is listed here. To change a role, simply click the dropdown and select the best-suited role.
